on October 12th, 2018 by Chanoch

Install Prereqs

# These should all be present already and up to date but just in case.

sudo apt update && sudo apt install apt-transport-https ca-certificates curl software-properties-common

Add the gpg key for docker and verify it

curl -fsSL https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu/gpg sudo apt-key add - && sudo apt-key fingerprint 0EBFCD88

# Make sure the fingerprint is listed and correct to preven MIMs and typosquating attacks

Install docker

# Assuming some 64 bit intellish arch (and not
ARM or a mainframe,)

sudo add-apt-repository \ "deb [arch=amd64] https://download.docker.com/linux/ubuntu \ $(lsb_release -cs) \ stable" && sudo apt update && sudo apt-get install docker-ce
Check it worked

docker run hello-world
